Skiathos Wool As a new journey begins.

As a new journey begins. Keep it short they say, but how when I have so much to say - so here goes! Working with wool on Skiathos has its challenges and rewards, but we are about to embark on our biggest challenge yet. Making our project financially viable.

For several years we have been digging deep into our resources both financially and emotionally to make this project a reality and now we must start to count the cost. Personally, I swapped my little town house on a very special Greek island, a place where I felt safe and financially secure for an emotional roller coster trip around Europe with sack of Skiathos Wool! Little did I know how much this would change my life forever. Jean It wouldn’t be fair or right for me to try and discribe what she has sacrificed to be on this crazy ride with me or what I have put her through. She is an amazing person with a passion, skill, knowledge and without her dedication this project would have never been possible. We both knew that when we embarked on this project it wasn’t going to be easy. Reinventing something that was once a way of life in times of great hardship was always going to be difficult. Using local resources was a necessity and not out of choice, many long hours were spent in a small room weaving or sewing to be able to show wealth for there family or simply make a blanket to keep warm on a cold winters night. Now as we move forward all our hopes and aspirations are all wrapped up in running local workshops, the production of knitting yarn, dog leads and some unique hats, all hand crafted from local sheep on Skiathos. These items and more will soon be available locally on Skiathos, in our workshop and available online shop as we develop yet another skill. This is where you can support our project and also acquire a something from the very heart of Skiathos joining a very special group of people.
